about

The Great Lithophone of Mu was one of the wonders of the Ancient World. It was a huge underground cave system filled with stalagmites and stalactites of varying widths and lengths. The priests of the local temple fitted electric solenoids to each so that a mallet would strike the stone when current was applied to the circuit. The solenoids were all wired to a central keyboard, which allowed the priests to play the caves like a gigantic organ.

The loss of the Lithophone is considered by many to be the most profound tragedy in the history of music.
